On September 15th, Ewan McGregor, best known for his iconic portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise, was honored with the 2,798th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In a touching tribute, his star was placed next to that of Carrie Fisher, the actress who brought Princess Leia to life.
Ewan McGregor's acting career has spanned decades, marked by numerous critically acclaimed roles. He first entered the acting scene in 1994 with roles in Bill Forsyth's Being Human and Danny Boyle’s Shallow Grave. However, it wasn't until 1996, when he portrayed the troubled heroin addict Mark Renton in Danny Boyle's Trainspotting, that McGregor gained international recognition.
In 1999, McGregor was cast as the beloved Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, a role that would become synonymous with his career. He reprised the role in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), earning widespread admiration from fans and critics alike. In 2022, McGregor returned to the galaxy far, far away in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, once again captivating audiences as the legendary Jedi.
While McGregor is often associated with Star Wars, his versatility as an actor shines through in many other notable films and series. His credits include Moulin Rouge!, A Gentleman in Moscow, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Raymond and Ray, Black Hawk Down, and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. Christensen warmly referred to McGregor as “the best Jedi Master anyone could've asked for” and “the coolest man on the planet.” While Anakin may not have shared that sentiment within the Star Wars storyline, the admiration from Christensen was clear and heartfelt.
In his acceptance speech, McGregor reflected on his lifelong passion for acting, saying, “I wanted to do this all my life, since I was a little boy, I wanted to be an actor.
